History:
Disney's Wilderness Lodge is a resort hotel located at the Walt Disney World Resort. It was opened on May 28,
1994. The resort is themed in atmosphere of the Pacific Northwest, and it features both natural and Native
American elements. The resort includes an artificial geyser and hot springs. The main building is modeled
after the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park. There is boat transportation available to the Magic
Kingdom, Disney's Contemporary Resort, and Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. The resort's
sister hotel is Disney's Grand Californian Hotel at Disneyland Resort, California. In November 2007, the resort
received designation in the Florida Green Lodging Program. The resort is owned and operated by Walt Disney
Parks and Resorts. It was designed by Peter Dominick.
Shopping an Dining:
The resort has several dining options including room service. There are two main restaurants at the resort.
from Washington State, Oregon, and British Columbia. These meals include dinners such as cedar plank
salmon, and grilled buffalo. The second main restaurant is Whispering Canyon Cafe, which is geared
primarily towards families with younger children. The resort also features Roaring Fork Snacks, Territory
Waterfall between lobby hot spring and the main swimming poolGuests staying on the 7th-floor Concierge
level can use the Old Faithful Club, which offers continental breakfast, cheese and wine tastings, as well as
beverages and snacks throughout the day.
The Wilderness Lodge contains one store entitled 'The Wilderness Lodge Mercantile'. The store supplies
many Disney themed items that are available throughout the Walt Disney World resort as well as items
specifically themed to the hotel itself. There is also a 'Disney's Pin Trading' stall located across the lobby from
the store.
Wilderness Lodge Mercantile is a shop located in the main lobby of the resort and sells items themed after
the Pacific Northwest along with other standard Disney items. Since the addition of the Villas at the
Wilderness Lodge, the shop has also started selling limited grocery items as well. Teton Boat and Bike
Rentals rents out boats and bikes for guests to use on Bay Lake and the trails around the resort.
